Byrnes RB Tre Segarra Commits to LSU: SC's #3 Recruit Stays in the SEC

Tre Segarra, the explosive running back from Byrnes High School in Duncan, has committed to LSU. Segarra is the #3 ranked recruit in South Carolina for the Class of 2027, rated 92 by On3 (★★★★★) and ranked #126 nationally. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound back chose the Tigers over Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina. "LSU has a track record of putting running backs in the league," Segarra said. "That was a big factor for me and my family." Byrnes has long been a powerhouse in South Carolina high school football, and Segarra is the latest in a long line of Division I talent to come through the program. His vision, balance, and breakaway speed make him a nightmare for opposing defenses. On3 lists his NIL valuation at $300K, reflecting his marketability as one of the top backs in the 2027 class. His commitment is a significant win for LSU on the recruiting trail in South Carolina, a state where Clemson and South Carolina typically dominate. Segarra joins fellow Byrnes Rebels Aidyn Wiggins (Auburn) and Chanin Harris (Syracuse) as 2027 commits, making Byrnes the most represented school in SC's top 10 rankings.
